Dr Rosemary Coleman graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 1987 with an honours degree in medicine, BA MB BCh BAO. She obtained her MRCPI (Membership of the Royal College of Physicians) in 1990.
Having completed 3 years general professional training in internal medicine, she began her Dermatology career in 1990 in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge under the watchful eye of the world famous Dermatologist Dr Bob Champion.
Later that year she commenced a 2 year research programme into ‘The Molecular Genetics of Atopic Eczema’ in Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and the Institute of Child Health in London. This culminated in the awarding of an MD thesis from Trinity College in 1993. Her research was published in The Lancet.
In 1993 she spent a year in the USA as a visiting dermatology fellow at the famous Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. There she developed her interest in mole surveillance and cosmetic aspects of dermatology.
She returned to London in 1994 to complete her Dermatology training in the world renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology in Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals (1994-97).
She was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 1998. Following this, she worked in Dublin as a Temporary Consultant Dermatologist in The Children’s Hospital, Temple Street for 2 years before deciding to commit herself to a career in Private Dermatology in the Blackrock Clinic and Mount Carmel Hospital after the arrival of her 3 fine sons!
She has published extensively in peer reviewed journals in the areas of geno-dermatoses, paediatric and general dermatology. She also makes regular contributions in the lay press and media on various aspects of dermatology.
Her areas of expertise and special interest are Aesthetic Dermatology, laser therapy including treatments for scarring, treatment of facial conditions in particular ‘The Red Face', rosacea, acne vulgaris, skin cancer and mole surveillance.

All treatments and assessments are carried out by Dr Coleman or her Dermatology Nurse Specialists (under her regular supervision). Each staff member has developed her own individual areas of interest and expertise and partakes in continuing medical education.
